Peter Sagal – Blog » Blog Archive » David Foster Wallace

…towering above everyone else…his sheer brilliance, his curiosity, his unbounded appetite for observation and thought and analysis…

Also see Gawker, which includes a 2005 Wallace quote regarding suicide, and the NY Times obit. Both via John Gruber’s Daring Fireball.

While I was, admittedly, not much of a Wallace reader (to be remedied), this a tragic loss.

Robert Giroux, Publisher, Dies at 94 – Obituary (Obit) – NYTimes.com

The publisher Charles Scribner Jr., in his memoir, “In the Company of Writers” (1991), wrote, “Giroux is a great man of letters, a great editor and a great publisher.”

AotM alum Dale’s blog presence has content out the wazoo (check out the long and varied list of links) including, though not limited to, images of his sketchbooks. I didn’t know he had cartooning in his veins, but am glad to have found out as he’s got lots of splendid doodles. He even channels Herriman in the header,  placing himself in the role of Krazy Kat though he would seem to be closer in spirit to the crafty Ignatz. Check it out!
